Med and Dent - 2019 Entry (Offers)

Course Type: Medicine
Offer Received: Yes
University: Griffith University (Nathan Campus)
UMAT: 92%

ATAR or GPA: 99.80
Special Considerations:
none
Offer Type: CSP
Other Information: Waiting for 2nd offer round for UQ bonded medicine. Not sure if I should accept Griffith medicine - received UQ merit scholarship, more friends going to UQ and closer to home, but Griffith program seems to be better and 1 year shorter + chance of non-bonded, but have to move to Gold Coast for last 4 years... I'm so torn between the two - should I just accept Griffith medicine??

I know someone interstate who didn’t even get an Monash interview invite with 99.35 and 180 umat and no adjustments . It seems the interstate cutoff is far above the Victorian one... is this policy? Does anyone here have any recommendations for my friend? Is this perhaps a mistake.?

I might be wrong because I’m from Victoria but I don’t think the interstate interview invites for Monash have actually been sent yet. They should be sent out sometime soon I think.

We’ve already had a few reported here from Qld, NSW, and SA off the top of my head.

There are no second round UQ provisional medicine offers if policy hasn't changed - the declined places go into the pool for graduate entry for three years later.

oh... I guess I don't have a choice then. Is there a link to this policy, or should I ask some UQ staff about it myself??

This is something you'll have to confirm again with UQ; this is how we found this information in the past.

That's amazing, you got an unbonded CSP spot at UNSW with a 98.2 ATAR, how amazing was your interview?

Do we know whether ATAR cutoff is going to drop for the second round? (Seems reasonable because if it didn't drop, no one would really be getting an offer) I have a friend that got into Griffith Nathan but actually prefers the Gold Coast Campus, his ATAR is a 99.70 – we're hoping that he receives a second round Griffith GC Campus offer. If he does end up in Griffith Nathan, what are the requirements for an internal transfer?
Going by the phone conversation I had with Griffith regarding both GC and Nathan second round offers, ATAR not likely to change and more than likely NO second round offers

Does anyone know if accepting and enrolling into an offer for uq dent would affect my chances of a possible top-up or 2nd round offer for uq med (though that's if they do top-ups/2nd round at all...)?

We don’t think they do (except under specific circumstances, ie. needing to top up a rural quota), but IF they do, you can enrol in Dent, you just need to make sure Med is top of your preference list.

Yes. Several bonded offers given in first round are often upgraded to unbonded in second round.
