Offers UTAS 2017 (Discussion)

So to sum up we should either learn how to cook, follow Mana's advice and find a partner who can also cook as a bonus, or we can all crash at LMG's house and become full time dog sitters. I like the last idea.

I've had this message on my application for the last couple of hours at least: "An offer round is currently being processed for one of your preferences. Preference changes and responding to offers cannot be performed at this time - please check back later."

Is it finally happening?

Do you have preferences other than MBBS? I've just logged on and don't have this message (my preferences are MBBS and MBBS - Bonded)

I just checked and I also don't have the message. I've applied for MBBS and MBBS bonded only like @Littlebitsofgood

I've applied for accommodation and my application is at 'received and waiting information' even though I didn't apply for Hobart studio apartments. Should it still go into the 'being assessed' staged since I'm not interested in Hobart Studio apartments?

I sent my application like a month ago but was that even too late?

So, do you guys reckon there will be non-standard offers in a bulk round or more like 1-2 here and there to top up the cohort?

The latter based on the fact there are already two non-standard offers that have been reported here.
That seems the right answer, but it is puzzling to be honest.... There would seem to be three groups of non-standards:-
  1. non-high-school leavers
  2. competitive entry from BMedRes and similar and
  3. guaranteed entry form BMedRes
As far as we know, there is a specific number of places set aside for each of these groups and the selection criteria are at least as well defined as for the standard entry offers. I wonder why they are taking a drip feed approach?

I agree re. the three groups, and agree that the methods used seem puzzling.

A possible explanation for this is that non-standard offers ~were sent out in bulk, but there are only a small amount of these and the vast majority are not MSO Obsessors ;)

I'm not sure I buy what I'm selling though. I think the ad hoc nature of offers is exactly what they're doing and I can't figure out why it's necessary.

Received a reply from accommodation services UTAS and supposedly Christ College, John Fisher and Uni apartments are completely full and I've been placed on a waiting list.

Hobart Studio apartments are still open and they'll send application emails at some point

Welp, looks like I need to learn how to cook

Hey Mal08
there is Jane Franklin Hall which I hear has alot of med students and they are catered. They could possibly have vacancies

Urgh UTAS such mystery, much stress! Dimsim had same GPA as me, same S2 score, but was 99th percentile vs my 97. Also the other dude 77 WAM, and 66 s2 but also 99 got offer. Not sure of his GPA but overall score matters more than s2?

There can be churn at Jane's right up to the first couple of weeks of semester. They run a shuttle bus to the various campuses.

Yeah it's a toughie, based on this and previous years non standard offers I was feeling pretty good with a 99 umat (71 s2) and 81 Wam, but still nothing
