UCAT Results Discussion 2020

Unfortunately your UCAT means you won’t quite be competitive enough for Medicine interviews this year. Best of luck with your current degree and any future attempts :)
Hi, I meant to also include Charles Sturt and Queensland for Dentistry. Any chance?

Hi, I meant to also include Charles Sturt and Queensland for Dentistry. Any chance?

Unfortunately for last year CSU needed a 91st percentile for an interview and UQ needed 90th for a place.

Unfortunately, I don’t see you receiving an interview at any of the unis you’ve listed, nor an offer from UTAS. Have you been thinking about an alternative uni course to then go for non-standard entry?
Hey, is there any uni's in australia that my scores could get me an interview

You may get a dentistry offer for Adelaide uni, as last year's UCAT cutoff was also 87th percentile. Depending on how UQ distributes their interview offers this year, you may also get a UQ medicine interview.

Your questions have already been answered before, please refer to this: UCAT Results Discussion 2020 and this: UCAT Results Discussion 2020.

Checking through your post history, you've asked about your chances on three separate occasions, may I ask why you keep posting the exact same thing? Your chances don't get better the more you post y'know?

Your VR is a fair bit lower than what WSU expects and you are quite borderline for it so don't get your hopes too high for now. With that ATAR and UCAT combo, you should be able to get interviews at UWA, Curtin, UAdel (don't really know since they changed up their admission pathways for locals/interstates). Flinders at the moment is out of the question, and so is Monash. UTas is out of the question as well, but JMP, and UNSW are still on the table, as is JCU (pending an application), UQ and Griffith if you keep that ATAR up.

I can't really answer for dentistry and unfortunately a 99 is too vague to give very good answers. We need something a little bit more concrete than that. Above or below 99.5 for example? Anyway, since you are in WA, you'll be able to get a UWA invite but not a Curtin one. Your UCAT basically puts you out of the running for pretty much all the unis that use UCAT except for UWA since they favour local residents - count yourself lucky. If you were in any other state you'd be a little dead in the water (don't want to be macabre but that's just the way it is). Griffith is also on the table is your ATAR is a 99.7+. 99.95/99.9 and maybe you could get a chancellors at UMelb or provisional at USyd. Apply to JCU with a good application and you might still be able to get an offer there. Applies to both dentistry and medicine.

If you are applying interstate then just say all in the applying to section. With your combination, you should be able to get interview invites at Curtin (probably) and UWA. UAdel is a maybe, and Flinders is a no. Monash is also a no, as is UTas. UNSW is a maybe, your UCAT is weighing you down for them. WSU/JPM is borderline, but JMP is likely to be a borderline. Griffith is probably out of the question as your ATAR is a little low, but I think UQ is still doable for you. Overall, many are borderlines and some are very much no's. Apply to all of them in case things change but I would be hesitant to jump the gun unfortunately.

Apologies, I thought the numbers shifted a few times last year and was ‘un-shifting’ them (obviously unnecessarily).

ETA: my question remains though, is an interview with two bottom of the (very high to start with) list scores doable, or are they not combined, rather hurdles?
So would a higher ATAR equate to a lower cut off for UCAT for UNSW? or is there a set boarderline for UCAT regardless of whether u get over the cut of of 99.25? -an anxious student about their ucat score

I'm pretty sure they have hard cutoffs for UCAT and ATAR scores. If you get below a certain percentile or ATAR they will not consider you no matter how good your other sections are.

Being a 99.25 and 89% ? according to last year?

Lowest ATAR reported was 99.25 so you are good in that department, but lowest UCAT reported was a 92nd percentile. Please remember that we do not have complete records of who gets what since we only have what people report on our offers page from last year. Currently, none of the valued members or mod team are in UNSW and none are first years, so it is completely possible that we have missed something. However, the 99.25 was the lowest reported from UNSW themselves so you can be sure of that. the UCAT is not reported so we only have our offers information to make predictions off of. If any current UNSW students would care to chime in that would be great!

UNSW have also provided the lowest UCAT now. It was 2830 from memory, which equates to approximately 2910 this year. Guide only, but useful nonetheless.

Applying for:
Med
Application Type: Non-standard (in my first year of uni)
ATAR: 98.65
GPA: 7 (as of finishing my 2nd trimester at UNSW)
UCAT Percentile Rank: 98
VR: 670
DM: 830
QR: 880
AR: 800
Total: 3180
SJ: 671
Possible WSU Formula Total (58%VR + 12%DM + 12%QR + 18%AR): 737.8
Current State: NSW
Applying to: JPM, UNSW, JMP (maybe UQ?)
Rural Applicant: No
GWS Applicant: Yes
Indigenous Applicant: No
Other: None
Specific Question: Hi folks, I have a couple of questions. With my UCAT score and ATAR/GPA, is it likely that I'll get an interview offer at UQ/UNSW? Since my VR score was a bit disappointing, is it enough to jeopardise my shot at JPM (WSU)? Sorry if the questions are bit vague.

Also, are there any other universities worth applying for with my current stats that I may have missed?

UQ doesn’t accept non-standard applicants for medicine and unfortunately your ATAR will rule you out of UNSW. You will get an interview at JMP and maybe WSU, but I wouldn’t hold out for WSU. Edit: with GWS you should be safe for an interview at WSU.
