UQ UQ Medicine: Provisional Entry Questions and Discussion

Hey, you should've received an email from UQ Admission about nominating your first degree - basically, you have to change your program to your undergrad degree; you're def still in provisional entry for med, this is just how they know what degree you've chosen. That's all I got up to so far as it says to wait a couple days after submitting the change.
Yes i did!! Thank you so much! Hahah drowning in emails

Hi all, I'm not sure if this has been answered already but I submitted my program change request for UQ through my SI-net and it says that I'm moving from provisional MD to biomedical science. I know that I needed to do this to choose my undergrad degree but just wanted to double check I did it through the right platform because there was also a requests tab on my UQ dashboard page. It's still pretty confusing to me so any help would be appreciated thanks.

I think you've done it right! I thought it was the dashboard requests page as well at first, but there was no option to submit anything there, and if you log onto your UQ email there should be an email saying your request has been made and is being processed!

Thanks heaps. It's just a bit nerve-racking to see the program change from provisional med and so was just triple checking.

Hello

I was wondering if anyone has knowledge of the workload of an 'extended major' against just a normal 'major', I understand it is a few units extra but... I don't even know what the workload of a normal major is like? And I'm assuming I still have to pick a minor if I pick the extended major?

Are we allowed to enrol in extended majors as provisional med?

Thank you!

The majors are decided by the amount of courses relevant to that field you take throughout your bachelors - the world is deicided by the courses itself. An extended major has no different of a workload than a normal major - you can enrol in them if you’re provisional

Also if you haven’t submitted it already - i HIGHLY recommend a BSc instead of a BBiomedSc - they’re essentially the same but the biomed sc is a lot less flexible

Hi

I understand the prerequisite for biology is that we can choose to do either biol1020 OR biom1050.... but does the prerequisite for chemistry mean we have to do ALL of the ones listed before we can enrol in this course?

Pretty dumb question but....
Thank you

I’d interpret that as you need to do one of each, but that’s a very inconsistent use of grammar and I can see where your confusion has come from!

He cant. I assume hes just planning ahead. But trust me, BIOC2000 leaves alot to be admired (edit: desired - thanks LMG!) ahha

But BIOC2000 is a Semester 1 course... so how are we able to do it in 1st year without having done any prerequisites at all? Sorry if this is a silly question

The OP isn’t trying to do BIOC2000 in first year though. Did you read through all the related posts?

Question - do you only do Level 1 courses in 1st year, Level 2 in 2nd year etc? Or can you do (for example) Level 3 courses in 2nd year (as long as prerequisites are met)?
