Although the 83% getting an offer kinda ruins what i'm about to say, it is possible that in anticipation of moving to a semi post-grad system similar to UQ (Half Undergrad, Half Postgrad) they have cut their intake in half for this year explaining the very high marks needed for both interstate and local applicants.

Although they have confirmed they are moving to MD, the year is still up in the air, and the system that they would be using is also unknown. So everything i'm saying is speculation, just attempting to explain whats going on.

There are two quite different ways the unis move to MD. The traditional way (UMelb USyd UQ UWA) where the MD is largely open to applicants with any Bach degree from any uni; and the hybrid way (Unsw, Bond, Monash) where it's practically the same MBBS course but superficially split into a pre-MD phase + an MD phase and the MD phase is generally not open to other unis' grads.

I think Adel is likely to do the latter. If so it doesn't have to do what you suggested.

I think Adel is likely to do the latter

Although I think you might be right Adelaide uni have stated in their frequently ask questions:

Does the University of Adelaide have an MD program for medicine?
"The University of Adelaide is exploring a possible move towards a level 9 MD medical qualification. While this may, in part, include a possible graduate entry route the details are yet to be finalised and agreed."

All that means is they plan to allocate probably 10-20 grad entry places to Adel's MedSc grads, not half the cohort to external applicants.

Looking at these responses, I feel really lucky yet really confused.

177 score, 87% UMAT
SA Resident
Non-Rural
School Leaver

Got an interview offer for Adelaide Med today, already booked a time. What's going on if Adelaide residents with 95-96th percentile aren't getting interviews?

Same, i got 177 as well and 87%ile
SA Resident
Non-Rural
School Leaver

Got an interview offer

My son (from NSW) got an offer from Ade for dentistry his 2nd choice. They said he is not ranked high enough for the first round interview for medicine(his first choice). But they mentioned about the 2nd round interview offers in the letter.

his UMAT= 93% (61, 52, 72) and his predicted ATAR=99.75. He also got an offer from UON. Hasn't got anything from UWS yet( I assume he won't get anything from UWS)

Would be hilarious if your Adel offer is sitting in your Spam box :D
Hey - that's what happened to me four years ago with my UNDS interview offer (had basically written it off because I know special consideration never works). I only found out about it when one of my friends in a similar situation to me told me he got an email from GEMSAS confirming no interviews for him and I realised I hadn't got that email.

It wasn't even in my Spam, just mixed in with all the other emails.

Managed to call the university up and accept the interview offer literally 24 hours before that offer was due to expire.

Woo, same score! High five!

Received a rejection email today for dent :( With a UMAT of 90 is there no hope that Adelaide will offer more interviews? How does the cut-off jump from 87 to 93 in 1 year, honestly.......

UMAT 96% (69,61,60)
Rural: No
School Leaver: No
Interstate: Yes (NSW)

Received an interview for Adelaide dent! Didn't apply for Adelaide Med but I got an interview offer from WSU and JMP.

So .. the JMP interview is like 3 hours but Adelaide is only 30 minutes .. Is this right?

JMP interview has two separate parts PQA and MSA(MMI?) so takes much longer.
Adelaide also two sessions of 15 mins each with 5-10 mins break in between, different two interviewers each session.

@A1 any idea what ATAR (to two decimal points) would I need for UNSW with a UMAT of 92%ile (57/59/66) (NSW local)?

Haha one decimal point is a lucky guess already let alone two. Going by previous years UMAT 182 would need around 98.80 to make into the interview round. But that means due to the three parts Atar Umat Interview weighing equally for place you'll need a near top interview score, so must aim for higher. The more >98.80 the more leeway it gives for the interview (in case you didn't know the interview is not a pass/fail test).
