Offers UTAS 2017 (Discussion)

@LMG for your mental health expect late acceptance . it will happen but they have a gnarly process to go through. I am sure you know this. U deserve this but the wait must be hard!

I'm all over it, it's all good! In the other discussion thread I've already mentioned this. I actually don't think the process is that 'gnarly' and UTAS do themselves zero favours on the regular, this is not new (I have been enrolled there since 1999, I'm well-versed in their vagaries!). I've never expected a first round offer for myself (as much as I might have wanted one), but am hopeful for some of my new MSO friends (even though I fully expect them to get homestate offers and abandon me anyway! Including you!!).

Nothing is ever as it seems. Your contributions are so valuable !

Thanks for posting this. Quick question: did you apply for BNursing? Or was it like the BMedRes offers that have been sent out regardless of whether they were included in the application? Thanks again :)

Nope, the reason for this No Offer is they looked at your scores and said this guy gonna get at least 3-4 mainland offers and decline UTas, don't waste our time offering.

I can almost promise to find a non-rural interstate offer with lower scores for you.

Yeah, I wondered exactly the same thing, A1. Total joke to offer this person Nursing (not saying Nursing is a joke, obvs., not at all, but c'mon! With those scores?).

No worries! Yeah, I actually applied for nursing too, would do nursing if I didn't get med- my preference list showed an offer for nursing but no med (bonded or unbonded).

Haha, well I sure hope so, I mean it's funny that they double guess like that, but I guess they have their methods?

Surely it's possible that nursing offers have gone out to eligible candidates all on one date and as you were an eligible candidate you received an offer - while med offers are released by some voodoo magic that no one can predict or understand and one could still be on its way to AmericanBoy. I can't imagine ANY uni admissions department looking at AmericanBoy's scores and not thinking 'we want this person studying at OUR uni', no matter how slim the chance (of them accepting the offer for reals) might be.

I don't know if UTas is different (is that kind of rhetorical haha) but how it usually works is offer for a lower pref only shows AFTER the higher prefs are known to have failed. Example is recently several people were told to move their CSU Dent to top pref if they wanted to see the offer, if left below a few Meds the CSU Dent offer would not show since Meds have not been determined.

That said, my comment above how UTas looked at AmBoy's scores... was pretty much tongue-in-cheek :D

...any projection on when to expect an offer....
Let's see....
1. More offers will be sent out from Wednesday 28/12... - nope
2. Summer Solstice (21/12).... - nope
3. When LMG politely enquires of the admissions office for the nth time.... nope
4. "by some voodoo magic that no one can predict or understand" (LBoG).... might be

perhaps your guess is as good as anyone's.

I'm so sorry if i've just misunderstood everything, or this has already been said - but have interstate year 12 leavers gotten their offers already? the website says interstate year 12 leavers will be released in jan... but have they already been released??
Would a 93 UMAT and 96.4 ATAR be eligible for an offer?

Only interstate RURAL standard students have reported offers here. I believe Tasmanian Yr 12's would have gotten their offers just before Christmas but I don't think they've been reported here. I'm not sure when interstate NON-rural Yr 12's will be receiving offers.

As we don't much information about the offer cut-offs this year, I'm not sure about your chances, sorry.

We don't believe standard non-rurals have received offers yet as we have someone with ATAR 99+ and UMAT 100%ile still waiting to hear. Historically, it's unlikely your score combo would have been competitive for UTAS, but we don't have a clear feeling for any offer patterns this year so far so I'm not really sure.

For those who have received the conditional offer and met the conditions, have any of you received an email or anything to confirm that you definitely have a place? I'm a little nervous that I haven't heard anything..

Yes Georgina, received a "congratulations" type letter and just today got a phone call about a get-together. Perhaps give them a call tomorrow if you are worried. Good luck. ps had accepted the conditional offer as well but not enrolled yet

When did you receive the letter? :)
