Can't believe Monash would make this kind of mistake. Is it possible for someone to alert Monash that they might need to review their interview selection process? If students with high score miss out interviews because of this it would be huge loss for both them and Monash.

Not really. Monash has no shortage of applicants and if some students miss out there are always more high scoring students ready to take their place. Monash doesn't have much to lose.

This all makes sense now, I was wondering why so many people hadn't booked their interview yet and now it seems they were just spots that were reserved for drl and Monash hadn't sent out the offers because they were waiting for all vic people to book.
I still find it odd that someone with 96 ATAR and 82 UMAT has received an interview invitation. It simply seems impossible to get an interview offer in any past year with that score.

I'm just a bit confused by what happened above. Since a student with 96 ATAR and 82 UMAT managed to receive an interview offer, is it right to deduce that scores of candidates for Monash this year are not as high as they were before?

We're a bit unsure about this as well as these scores are lower than some rural applicants who didn't get an interview.

It may be the case that this was actually two people (a 96 with a high umat and a high ATAR with 82 UMAT). Until that person shows up on MSO, we might not really know.

However you should note that cutoffs have slowly been going up, not down, over the last few years.

And the student with 96 ATAR doesn't seem to be rural according to ImGreyt. It just doesn't feel right.
So far I know the lowest scoresthat people got Monash interview offers with are: 96.. atar and 82 umat, 99.05 atar and 76 umat both are Victorian with no special considerations, maybe it's not as competitive this year
Maybe something went wrong in Monash and hope they can fix it in time.

Remember that this is someone saying someone else got an interview with this score, not that actual person coming forward on MSO and saying that this was actually them.

For example, if they got 82 RAW umat (section/3) then that would be a 96 ATAR and 100%ile UMAT which would probably qualify for an interview.

You are right. I shouldn't be bothered that much by it since the information might be incomplete. I was just concerned that students would miss out due to some kinds of technical glitch but on the off chance it does happen Monash should be able to handle it.

The information is coming from a friend of a friend so it is quite possible there has been a miscommunication error however I thought that the high scoring rural issue had been solved since they received their offers yesterday. Also the really competitive Victorian students will not miss out so I don't think there is anything to worry about and the competitive interstate students will still get opportunities in their home state if Monash had made an error but I don't think they have.

There is little doubt Monash had made several errors. Non-DRL interstates were offered main round then withdrawn changed to 2nd round. Instead of 21st Dec like other main rounders DRL interstates didn't receive their offers until 30th just five days before interviews. The 99.15/75%ile received an offer then a rejection then was told to ignore the rejection etc.

I'm inclined to think without these mixed-ups both the 96/82%ile & 99.15/75%ile (and possibly dozens of others that we don't hear of) would have been well below the cutoff for interview. It means when put up 33/33/33 against the above-regular-cutoff applicants they have mathematically zero chance to get a place even with a top interview. Monash may feel obligated to alter the ranking method to at least give them some chance but if so, the regulars' chances would be slightly affected.

Very true. I would hope they didn't change anything though as this would be unfair

Just wondering, does the 50 50 50 rule still apply for Monash even though they haven't explicitly stated it this year?

Correct me if I'm wrong but, going with what A1 mentioned as a 1 in 3 place offer to interview offer ratio for Monash in an earlier post, I think there's around 240 place offers for undergrad med (does anyone have an exact number on how many in the cohort have to be rural?) so I assume a bit over 700 interviewees?
According to Monash's ppt at an EXPO, total 242 domestic places(CSP 144, Extended Rural Cohort 30, BMP 68) and will b 500 interviews.

Ive now got interviews for all medical schools I applied for (Monash, UNSW, WSU, JMP, JCU, UAdel, UWA and Curtin.)
ATAR: 98.7 (howevet bumped up to high 99s for most states except WA)
UMAT: 98th percentile (65 63 71)
State: Victoria
Standard and non-rural with a lot of special considerations in every state except WA
What are the special considerations for UNSW and Monash?

Hi for anyone wondering their chances of a Curtin interview, I recieved an interview offer around 2pm yesterday. My atar was 98.05 and UMAT was 92%ile no special considerations. I am also a NSW applicant. I also got a UNSW interview, with special considerations
Is it ok if I ask what are the special considerations?

For having medical illness in year 12, for have financial difficulties throughout schooling, for a close friend or family member passing away in year 12 and stuff like that. I did not make a claim for all three categories though

I don't think JMP states 100% or 50/50 anywhere, it's up to how we each interpret the info on its webpages.

It says Selection process has two criteria: Academic (ATAR/GPA) and Assessment (PQA+MMI).
UMAT is mentioned within the latter explaining how it determines who qualify for the Assessment stage. I interpret that as the full role of UMAT, but won't argue with anyone saying 50/50.

Hi,
I was wondering if there might be a reason that I have received neither a rejection nor invitation for late round UNSW interview? Is this normal?
For reference, my ATAR was 99.25 and UMAT 98.
